Film incentives still causing concerns at Democratic town hall
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Democratic senators met with folks from New Hanover County tonight to talk about what matters most to them at a town hall meeting in Wilmington.
Sen. Dan Blue (D-Wake County) said they have been holding these types of meetings across the state to really learn what the people of North Carolina think of their leaders in Raleigh. Tonight Blue was joined by Sen. Mike Woodard (D-Durham).
Blue said these meetings give legislators a better understanding of what could best benefit North Carolinians when passing legislation. For example in New Hanover County, Blue said film incentives are still a hot button issue.
“That there’s a feeling that the legislature has been unfair and heavy handed in eliminating the tax credits and simply going to grants for this. But as importantly they think that the legislature overreached in its enactment of House Bill 2,” said Blue.
Blue said they really do take to heart the will and thoughts of the people when they return to Raleigh, and meetings like this help make the system better for everyone.
