Fire in Myrtle Grove area total loss, cause unknown

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Fire crews worked for hours to extinguish a fire that broke out in the Myrtle Grove area Sunday night.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire that broke out just before 8 p.m. Sunday near the Edgewater Mobile Home Park.

According to New Hanover County dispatch, the home is considered a total loss.

Multiple crews responded to the fire, and some were on the scene until almost 1 a.m. Monday to keep flames from spreading to nearby homes.

Crews said it was hard to battle due to the narrow road leading to the house.
