Fire sparks at home undergoing renovations downtown
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Fire crews responded to a house fire in downtown Wilmington Friday night.
Wilmington Fire Department’s Assistant Chief Sammy Flowers said the call came in just after 9:45 p.m. He said the fire sparked at 505 Campbell Street at a home undergoing renovations.
The Wilmington Fire Department and New Hanover County Fire Department were on the scene.
Flowers said the fire was 90 percent involved.
Crews said the home, which is a total loss, collapsed from the damage and three other properties that were close to the fire were damaged.
In a news release Saturday, Flowers said that the investigation has concluded and the cause and origin are still undetermined because of the damage and debris.
