Fire truck, 18-wheeler, truck struck on NC 133 near Belville

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A section of NC 133 where crews worked to remove three vehicles stuck on the road is closed.

The vehicles are all stuck near Rice Hope Run in Belville.

Cameron Ward, who was driving the red pickup truck, tells WWAY he was on his way to work when his car slowly slid into a ditch. That’s when a van came around the corner from the opposite direction and ran into him.

A fire truck was coming to respond to the accident and also got stuck.

Ward says the 18-wheeler managed to avoid the mess before getting stuck in a ditch right behind him.

Ward says it was beyond scary.

“My advice to you is just stay home. Don’t go anywhere for nothing,” Ward said. “No matter what it is. Even though other people is driving doesn’t mean it ain’t going to happen to you, so…”

Tpr. J.E. Britt says the NCDOT has now salted and plowed this section of NC 133.

Barricades are now up.

Leland Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Ronnie Hayes says a section of NC 133 between Belville Elementary School and Olde Town Subdivision will remain closed until Friday morning.
