Fire departments compete to raise money for MDA

On Saturday the Carolina Beach Fire Department competed in a friendly game of Rescue A Firefighter against the Myrtle Grove Fire Department.

The event took place at the Chic-Fil-A in Monkey Junction. There was an obstacle course in the parking lot where participants carried a wet sponge to the end and emptied it into the bucket of their choice.
Each time a bucket was filled one of the fire fighters stuck on Chic-Fil-A’s roof was rescued.
The purpose of the event was to raise money for a cause of each department’s choice.

Each department chose to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Carolina Beach firefighter Lane Brett said that it’s a national thing that all firefighters raise money for and it just made sense for them to go ahead and take the money they were getting from this event and donate it to that cause as well.
