Fire destroys abandoned restaurant near Snow’s Cut Bridge

New Hanover County fire fighters are investigating a fire that destroyed an abandoned restaurant last night.

The blaze broke out around 1:30 a.m. on Seabreeze Avenue South near Snow’s Cut Bridge. Three county departments responded.

Officials said the flames reached as high as fifty feet and were not put out until around 6:30 Thursday morning.

Authorities tell us the homeless sometimes seek refuge in the old restaurant. It does not appear anyone was hurt in the fire.
