Fired NC doc’s records changed to poor conduct

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — A civilian psychiatrist who says he was fired for writing memos to his military superiors in North Carolina complaining of shoddy care of Marines had good personnel reviews changed to bad after his allegations became public.

A Salon.com investigation obtained documents that show how officials at Camp Lejeune changed Dr. Kernan Manion’s favorable evaluations to unsatisfactory. Salon.com was first to report Manion’s complaints and firing.

It reports the changes were made after his allegations of shoddy treatment were made public.

Manion was fired in September. He was told it was ordered by the Navy.
