Firefighters investigating after flames spark at Wilmington business

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Fire crews are working to figure out what caused an early morning fire at a Wilmington business.

Investigators say the fire broke out at Port City Orthopedics on Oleander Drive in the early morning hours. Firefighters say they were able to extinguish the flames just before 3:30 a.m.

A Wilmington Fire Department spokesman says a fire investigator is working to find what caused the blaze, but says crews were unable to enter the building until carbon monoxide cleared.

Officials say one firefighter was treated on the scene and then taken to the hospital, but he has since been released. There’s no word yet on his injuries.
