Firefighters: Resident treated for smoke inhalation after house fire
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington firefighters are investigating after they said one person was hurt in a house fire they responded to Thursday morning.
A Wilmington Fire Department spokesman said the fire happened at 5745 Oak Bluff Lane. That’s where firefighters said heavy smoke and flames were showing when they got to the scene.
The spokesman said one resident is being treated for smoke inhalation after he went back inside the home to get a pet. Firefighters said the pet was actually already outside and was not hurt.
Fire investigators said the cause was accidental and due to unattended cooking.
