FIRST ON 3: Bank robbed, suspect under $1M bond

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man is in jail under $1 million bond after a bank robbery in New Hanover County. A Sheriff’s Office spokesman says it happened at the BB&T at 5610 Castle Hayne Road around noon.

Investigators say James Bourgoyne passed a note to a teller that said he had a weapon, but he did not show a weapon. They say they got a description of the suspect’s vehicle. Deputies pulled Bourgoyne over on US 421 near the Battleship. He is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
