FIRST ON 3: Charges dropped against Navassa mayor

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Charges against Navassa Mayor Eulis Willis were dismissed in court Friday.

He was facing a misdemeanor charge of communicating threats after Town Council Member Minnie Brown swore out a warrant for Willis. Brown told WWAY in December Willis threatened her.

In court Friday, a judge said Willis’ case was dismissed by the district attorney at the request of the prosecuting witness. We’re working to get more details from the district attorney’s office about the decision.
