FIRST ON 3: Former church pianist pleads guilty to sex crimes
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A former church pianist arrested on sex-related charges involving a high school student has pleaded guilty to charges of crimes against nature, statutory rape, and indecent liberties with a minor.
A judge sentenced Michael Nobles, 45, to 14 to 17 years in prison.
In March 2011, Nobles was spotted on the Pender High School campus allegedly trying to meet up with a 15-year-old boy when he was arrested. Detectives say the two had a sexual relationship for more than six months.
Nobles was a pianist at several area churches.
