FIRST ON 3: Investigators release causes of death in murder-suicide
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators say a woman killed in an apparent murder-suicide was stabbed to death. The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says Kimberly Ann Williams died from multiple stab wounds.
An autopsy on the man believed to have killed her, Joseph Lane Rouse, shows he died of a massive head injury after jumping from the North College Road overpass onto I-140 Saturday afternoon.
Investigators say Williams’s sister drove by the investigation and noticed her sister’s car where Rouse had apparently parked it on the overpass. She led deputies to Williams’s apartment at Providence Park, where they found her body.
Deputies police Williams and Rouse were in some sort of relationship. At this point, though, they have not said what they believe may have been the motive for Williams’s murder.
