FIRST ON 3: New Hanover Co. elections director jailed for assault on female

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County’s elections director will spend the rest of the weekend in jail after being arrested last night.

Marvin McFadyen, 44, is charged with assault on a female, according to the New Hanover County Jail’s website. Jail staff says McFadyen is being held without bond, which will be set when he makes his first court appearance tomorrow morning.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, a call came in shortly after 10 pm from a woman claiming McFadyen assaulted her.

Responders assessed the victim and McFadyen was arrested on scene. The victim did sustain injuries, but none serious enough to require treatment.

Police say they cannot release the name of the victim at this time but they did tell us she shares an address with McFadyen.

According to jail staff, Wilmington Police arrested McFadyen and booked him into the jail around 11:15 p.m.
