FIRST ON 3: Victims identified in Friday plane crash

ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Investigators say two people from Vermont died in a plane crash near Jacksonville’s Ellis Airport Friday. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office says the victims were Peter J. Herbert and Sheri Rowe.

Their single-engine plane went down about 1 p.m. in a field off Batchelor Road in the Nine Mile Community. The Sheriff’s Office says both people died on impact.

No word yet on why the plane crashed. The NTSB took the plane to Atlanta yesterday for a complete examination.
