First ever Young Professionals Expo in Downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and the Port City Professionals teamed up Wednesday to put on the first ever Young Professional Expo.

The event started early Wednesday afternoon and wrapped up around 7:30 p.m. at the Ironclad Brewery in Downtown Wilmington. The event featured dozens of vendors, three panel discussions and great networking opportunities.

Their goal is to keep young professionals in the area, help entrepreneurs and share success stories. Organizer and Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Member Services Director Megan Canny says it is important for the city’s future.

“You know, young professionals, we’re the future of Wilmington. Our ideas matter in the future. You know, we need to know the resources if we want to grow a business. Or how to brand ourselves. Or how to get involved with non-profits and really giving back to the community. And just you know, working with each other and other parts of the community,” Canny said.

More than 200 people attended the first ever Young Professional Expo.

Canny says although there are no plans yet, the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce hopes to have another expo with the Port City Young Professionals in the near future.
