First joint board meeting for Pender school bond
BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Commission and Board of Education met tonight to discus the future of the school bond voted on in November. This was the first time the two boards met over the bond.
Currently the bond has three projects in the beginning stages, including a new school to be built in Surf City. Each project has it’s own architectural team.
Both boards agree that communication is key for the completion of these projects.
County Commission Chair, David Williams, said that he thinks tonight’s meeting was a huge success, and that with both boards working together the county will get the success they need.
“It was really quite frankly the most productive meeting our boards have had together in recent memory,” said Williams.
Williams said both boards were able to ask questions of each other, and get the answers they need to move forward. This will help everyone to be on the same page moving forward.
Currently all three major projects are scheduled to take just over two years to complete. The two boards will continue to meet throughout the process.
