FIRST ON 3: 88-year-old charged with hospital volunteer group embezzlement

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — An 88-year-old woman is accused of stealing more than $7,500 from the Dosher Memorial Hospital volunteer organization in Southport.

Pauline Swain was charged February 5 with embezzlement.

The hospital’s spokesperson released a statement about the incident.

“The hospital and its volunteer organization have cooperated fully with law enforcement officials in their investigation,” Kirk Singer said. “Since the matter is currently in the hands of the court system, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time.”
