FIRST ON 3: Brunswick Co. magistrate facing felony charge


BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A member of the Brunswick County judicial system is facing charges.

According to an arrest warrant, Brock Haywood Holmes, 24, is facing charges including felony flee to elude arrest. The warrant said Holmes failed to stop when a Brunswick County deputy tried to stop him on McMilly Road in Shallotte earlier today. The deputy was trying to stop Holmes because he was driving in excess of 15 miles per hour over the speed limit, the warrant said. Holmes was also cited for reckless driving to endanger, according to the warrant.

Officials said Holmes was driving an ATV at the time of the arrest.

Brunswick County Resident Superior Court Judge Ola Lewis said Holmes has been suspended with pay indefinitely.
