FIRST ON 3: ‘It looks like a war zone out there’

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County dispatch confirms there was a massive car crash at Front and Market Streets Monday around 11 p.m. in Downtown Wilmington. Emergency crews are still responding to the scene.

While we haven’t gotten any information on whether anyone was hurt or killed, dispatchers did say two units went to the hospital.

Witnesses, who sent in pictures to WWAY, said it looked like a “war zone” at the scene in the area of Slice of Life and Shuckin’ Shack. There is no word yet from Wilmington Police on how many cars might have been involved.

However, video and pictures sent into us by witness Nick Kepple, show three cars that looked like they might have been damaged during the accident. Several of Kepple’s pictures show one of the cars was pushed up on the sidewalk toward the Shuckin’ Shack.
