FIRST ON 3: One dead after shooting in Navassa

NAVASSA, NC (WWAY) — One man is dead after a shooting overnight in Navassa.

Navassa Police Chief Preston Howell said it happened at a party at 2543 Old Cedar Loop Road around 3:30 a.m.  Investigators say Cordell Stokes, 27, was killed.

“This is not the first incident we’ve had at this location with something going on,” Howell said.

At this time, police are still searching for a suspect. Howell says anyone with information should call Navassa Police or the Jacksonville State Bureau of Investigation.
