FIRST ON 3 UPDATE: Teen killed, 4 wounded in gang-related shooting
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say one teen is dead and four others are wounded as a result of a drive-by shooting that happened at 11th & Castle streets this morning.
A Wilmington Police Spokeswoman said the shooting happened around 11:18 a.m. after a ShotSpotter alert went off. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Shane Simpson, 16, lying on the ground at the corner of 11th & Castle.
Police believe Simpson and four other teens were hit when a dark-colored sedan drove by the corner and fired shots at the group. The remaining victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.
During their investigation, police took pictures of the house on the corner, where the glass front door was shattered.
Police have one person of interest they are looking for at this time. Investigators believe this is a gang-related shooting.
