First trailer for Wilmington-shot ‘Words on Bathroom Walls’
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — The Port City gets a moment in the spotlight in the first trailer for the locally shot teen drama “Words on Bathroom Walls.”
The new film, which shot back in May 2018, is slated to premiere on Aug. 17 in theaters, if they have reopened.
“Words on Bathroom Walls” features numerous iconic Wilmington locations including the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, Airlie Gardens, the downtown Riverwalk, New Hanover High School and St. James Episcopal Church — glimpses of which can be seen in the trailer.
Based on the book by Julia Walton, “Words on Bathroom Walls” stars Charlie Plummer as Adam, a teenager expelled halfway through his senior year only to be diagnosed with mental illness that he keeps secret at his new school.
Living in constant fear of being exposed, Adam finds a connection with Maya (Taylor Russell), an outspoken and fiercely intelligent girl who inspires him to open his heart and not be defined by his condition. With the love and support of his newfound romance and family, Adam is hopeful for the very first time that he can see the light and triumph over the challenges that lie ahead.
