FIRST ON 3: Father sentenced in Medicare scheme; daughter next

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A federal judge has sentenced a Wilmington man who admitted trying to rip off Medicare and Medicaid.

Roy Creasy received three years probation and three years home detention with electronic monitoring. He’ll also have to pay a 40-thousand-dollar fine and a million dollars in restitution.

Prosecutors say Creasy and his daughter Tamala Creasy Newton used several medical practices they owned to submit fake bills. They pleaded guilty to several charges earlier this year.

Newton’s sentencing is set for next week.
