FIRST ON 3: Marine charged with indecent liberties with 8-year-old

A 23 year old US Marine from New River Air Station is in the Pender County Jail under a $400,000.00 bond. Dain Arthur Larson a private with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron-29 (MALS-29) has been charged with four counts of Felonious Indecent Exposure and four counts of Felonious Indecent Liberties with a minor.

Larson was arrested this morning after being interviewed at the Pender County Sheriff’s Office.

This investigation began after an 8 year old girl made allegations, to her mother. The child’s mother reported the incident to authorities. The investigation focused on four specific events during a time period of, approximately, two months.

Larson and the victim are neighbors in a Hampstead area apartment complex.

Since school is out and children will be engaging in various, summertime, activities now would be an excellent time for parents to talk with their children about the possibility of inappropriate behaviors of other people. Parents and their children should have a safety plan in place so that children will know how to react in the event they are victimized in any manner.
