FIRST ON 3: UNCW student reports assault on campus

A student has reported to the UNCW Police Department that at approximately 3:30 this morning he was punched by one or more individuals. He reported that the incident occurred on a sidewalk near Wagoner Hall.

The student reported that he does not know the individual(s) who assaulted him, but described each of the three males as being Caucasian and approximately 20 years old. One was reported to have been wearing a white t-shirt and white form fitting hat. They were seen in white four-door BMW. The specific model is unknown, but the year of the car was estimated to be a 1999-2000. The car was described as having several stickers on the back glass (rear window).

While this incident remains under investigation, the circumstances reinforce the need to stay aware of your surroundings, to trust your instincts, travel in well-lighted areas and in groups, and to take advantage of the safety escorts available through the UNCW Police Department.
