Fit For Fun Center holds faux snow day despite warm weather
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It may not feel like winter this week with the record warmth we’re experiencing but the season does not end for a few more weeks.
Some children at Wilmington’s Fit For Fun Center got to enjoy the best of both worlds with a faux snow day!
It was a science experiment of sorts for the employees at the center as they combined baking soda and conditioner to create the artificial snow that does not melt.
There were also winter-themed decorations and even a spot for the kids to take “Winter Wonderland Selfies.”
There were some worries that the nice weather would keep people away, but plenty of kids and their parents showed up for some winter fun.
“It’s nice and cool and it gives that same feeling of how snow is, but even when it’s nice and warm outside, it doesn’t melt. They can still play with it and have a lot of fun,” said Melissa Harrison, Fit For Fun Center’s recreation coordinator.
This week’s warm weather may be a sign that winter is coming to an end so the center is already working on their springtime programs.
