‘Flash fire’ incident at Leland gas station reported to OSHA

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A Monday night incident involving two maintenance workers at a Leland gas station has been reported to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner said Monday around 5 p.m. two Southern Pump and Tank Company workers were burned by a flash fire. He said a man and a woman were doing work at the Circle K gas station on Ocean Highway in Leland. He said when helped arrived they weren’t on fire but had received severe burns.

He said the two were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with life threatening injures.
