Fmr. students come to teacher’s aid after house fire

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — After a fire destroyed the home of a South Brunswick High School math teacher, some former students decided to come together to help one of their favorite teachers.

Coach Lee Shelton is an AP Calculus teacher and one of WWAY’s nominated teachers for “Teacher of the Week.” Shelton and his family were displaced following a house fire Wednesday, fire investigators said. No one was hurt in the fire.

Some of Shelton’s former students set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for Shelton. In less than 24 hours, they have raised more than $1,800.
