Food Bank egg-cited about big donation

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It was an “egg-cellent” day for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina in Wilmington.

North Carolina’s commercial egg farmers donated more than 250,000 eggs. The donation is part of the Good Egg Project, which helps encourage people to eat well.

“We have a responsibility as being food providers that we know not everyone has the ability sometimes to put food on their table,” egg farmer John Brinn said. “It’s what we feel’s necessary. It’s what we’re here for, and we enjoy doing it whenever we have the opportunity.”

Organizers say each participating farmer donated 60,000 eggs.

If you want to get involved, go online and visit goodeggproject.org, and make a pledge to donate.
