Football tailgate party benefits more than football fans

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — So how about watching some college football and supporting a good cause all at the same time? Folks had a chance to do that Saturday at the College Football Tailgate Party to benefit Step Up for Soldiers.

The event was organized locally by Hell’s Kitchen. People got to check out a game on the big screens under the big tent. Step Up for Soldiers was also accepting donations.

Hell’s Kitchen owner Vincent Arcieri says this is a great cause and he is happy to be a part of it.
“It’s a good opportunity to combine a weekend where we are having college football and do something for the soldiers at the same time,” Arcieri said. “Step Up for Soldiers is a great organization and it helps all of our local troops from the area that need assistance and we’re glad to work with them and we just thought it was a good thing to combine the two.”

The event was run by volunteers who Arcieri says he is very proud of for donating their time and efforts to this cause.
