For Bragg soldier killed by vehicle explosion in Iraq

FORT BRAGG (AP) — A soldier based at Fort Bragg has died from injuries he sustained during an explosion in Iraq.

The military says 22-year-old Sergeant Kyle Dayton of El Dorado, California, died Monday in Anbar Province. He was fatally injured when his unit responded to a logistics convoy accident and one of the vehicles unexpectedly ignited.

Dayton deployed to Iraq in June. He also spent a year in Afghanistan.

Dayton was an Infantry Team Leader with the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.

He is survived by his wife, Nicole, and their son, Sean, who live Folsom, California; and by his mother, Linda Mclaurin of Tracy, California.
