Forecasters again warn of NC flash flooding
RALEIGH — Forecasters are warning about flash flooding in parts of North Carolina as runoff from heavy rains swells rivers.
The National Weather Service said residents should watch for high water on the Neuse River in Johnston County and in the mountains of northwest North Carolina through Wednesday.
Heavy rain Tuesday flooded apartments in southern Raleigh and forced authorities to evacuate about 70 people from an apartment complex.
Forecasters say three to four inches of rain fell in parts of Raleigh on Tuesday.
Severe thunderstorms and high winds hit three counties around Charlotte and knocked out power to thousands of utility customers.
