WPD: One suspect in custody, another at large after chase, shots
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say a suspect is in custody and another man still at large after a chase that included shots fired by an officer and a suspect Saturday evening.

Police say they arrested Greer Hayes Old, 22, late Saturday night.
WPD says Old is facing multiple charges including fleeing to elude, firearm by felon, possession of stolen firearms and assault on a government official with the intent to kill. They expect additional charges.
According to a news release around 7 p.m. police got a tip that a man wanted for a shooting from last week was staying at the Travelodge on Market Street. As officers arrived, they say they saw the suspect and a passenger leaving the hotel.
Police chased the men to the area of Empie Park, where the two men got out of the car and ran off. WPD says shots were exchanged between an officer and a suspect. There were no injuries.
Officers found Old, the driver of the vehicle, about an hour later.
A second suspect is at-large and is considered to be armed and dangerous. He is described as a white male wearing dark clothing, a bandana and a hat.

Wilmington Police tweeted around 10:20 p.m. that the suspect was in custody. It ended a tense few hours in the Forest Hills area of the city.

Police warned people who live in the Forest Hills area to stay inside and keep their doors locked, according to WPD spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron. New Hanover County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer said deputies also helped.
Roads were also closed in the area, and drivers were urged to stay away.
