Former Bladen Co. Schools superintendent pleads guilty
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Former Bladen County Schools Superintendent Greg Killingsworth has pleaded guilty to a felony count of obtaining property by false pretense.
The District Attorney’s Office says Killingsworth entered his plea yesterday in Bladen County Superior Court.
Killingsworth was among a group of former public employees in Bladen County indicted by a grand jury for financial crimes in 2011 after a SBI investigation. Killingsworth was indicted for putting someone he was not married to as his spouse on his insurance and getting $4,021.92 in benefits.
During an October 2010 school board meeting, Killingsworth hand wrote a letter of resignation. He quit his job less than 18 months after starting.
A judge will sentence Killingsworth Aug. 25. As a first-time offender, he faces up to 10 months in prison, prosecutors say.
