Former Brunswick hospital site sold, mental health facility planned

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. (StarNews) — The old Brunswick Community Hospital property has another owner with new plans for the nearly 32-acre parcel off U.S. 17, which has been sitting vacant for the last five years.

Atlanta-based Palms Health and Wellness LLC plans to transform the approximately 75,000 square-foot former hospital building into a behavioral and mental health facility, said Sonny Roshan, CEO of Georgia-based Aeon Global Health.

The planned property use is exciting for some, such as Deanna Brown-Johnson, owner of Oceanside Family Counseling and Resource Center in Sunset Beach, who expressed the need for more options in addressing the county’s growing need for assistance in combating substance abuse.
