Former Jacksonville band teacher gets probation for sex
JACKSONVILLE, NC (AP) — The former band director at Jacksonville High School has been placed on probation for having a sexual relationship with one of his students.
The Daily News of Jacksonville reported that 35-year-old Christopher D. Howard pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a student earlier this year.
He has now been sentenced to three years of probation.
Onslow County sheriff’s deputies in 2012 charged Howard with three counts of sexual activity with a student by a teacher and four counts of taking indecent liberties with a student.
Deputies said Howard had sex with the girl a number of times, including once in the school’s band room.
District Attorney Ernie Lee said the relationship ended when the couple was found in a car on a deserted area.
