Former Wilmington Fire Chief, councilman mourned

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A former Wilmington Fire Chief died yesterday morning. Robert D. Shipp had just turned 94.

Chief Shipp retired on February 23, 1982, his 65th birthday.

Mr. Shipp was also a former Wilmington City Councilman.

Visitation is Sunday at Pine Valley Baptist Church from 2-4 p.m. A funeral with full fire department honors is Monday at 3 p.m. at the church.
