Former cop arrested for impersonating cop
LUMBERTON, NC (WWAY) — A former Fair Bluff and Tabor City police officer has been arrested again, this time for impersonating a police officer.
You may remember Gregory “Butch” Campbell was arrested in November and accused of breaking into a drug store and stealing narcotics, while on duty as a Fair Bluff police officer. Campbell was still awaiting trial on those charges when he was arrested again in Lumberton recently.
A Lumberton police officer was investigating a break-in at a mobile home park, when he ran into Campbell, who identified himself as a US Marshal. The officer was suspicious of his story, and Campbell was later arrested.
