Fort Bragg-based soldier from N.C. killed in Pakistan

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) — An 82nd Airborne Division Major from North Carolina was killed in Pakistan this week.

Larry J. Bauguess Junior of Moravian Falls died Monday in Teri Mengel, Pakistan. Military officials said he suffered fatal wounds from enemy small arms fire.

Baugess was an operations officer with the 4th Brigade Combat Team's Special Troops Batallion with the 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg.

He is survived by his wife, Wesley, and two daughters.

Bauguess arrived at the 82nd Airborne Division in May 2006 and was assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team's Special Troops Batallion in December.
