Free rabies clinic for pets of Leland residents at ‘Bark in the Park’
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The dogs had their day in Leland yesterday as residents were invited to bring their pups out to Bark in the Park.
The town of Leland partnered with Capeside Animal Hospital and Furever Friends Animal Rescue to offer a free rabies clinic for the four-legged friends of Leland residents.
There were also dog-centric vendors, a dog food drive, and dogs available for adoption.
Sharon Smith with Furever Friends Animal Rescue says this event is very important to the community.
“Some families are not able to pay for the rabies vaccine and we’re here to help them because it’s incredibly important for every dog and cat to have a vaccination,” Smith said.
Smith says about 200 rabies vaccinations are given to dogs and cats at this event every year.
