CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Freeman Park in Carolina Beach is temporarily closed to prepare for the upcoming beach nourishment project.

A contractor hired by the US Army Corps of Engineers will be setting up equipment and placing pipe along the beach.

Once the set up is finished, Freeman Park will reopen. There is no word on when exactly that will be.

While the beach nourishment project is being done, the work area will be roped off.

You will not be allowed in that area due to hazardous conditions.

The park was scheduled to close at 5 p.m. Friday.
