Freeman Park land owner files appeal
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (Star News) — The owner of property in Freeman Park whose ropes and fencing were removed by town officials in February has filed an appeal of the town’s action.
Carolina Beach Town Manager Michael Cramer said Freeman Beach LLC, which planted sea oats and erected a post-and-rope barrier around them, paid a $450 fee to appeal the move to the town’s board of adjustment.
The company was given a permit by state officials to erect sand fences, slat-style fences that mitigate erosion. But Cramer said the company did not have a permit to put in the posts or ropes and did not consult with town or state officials before building.
