Friends of man killed plan celebration of life ceremony

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Friends of a man killed in Monkey Junction earlier this week say they are still in shock.

Employees at The Coat of Arms Lounge in Wilmington say Terry Greenwood was there daily and was like a brother to them.

Stephanie Bandy has been a bartender there for three years and says she developed an instant friendship with Greenwood. In honor of him, they have placed his favorite drinks, a PBR and Jägermeister, at the bar.

Bandy said he was always filled with smiles and wanted to have a good time. He loved his kids dearly and always talked about how proud he was.

Bandy said she saw him only an hour or two before he died and didn’t expect that would be her last time with Greenwood.

“This bar has been changed forever,” Bandy said. “He was such a big part of this place. Everybody has been devastated and in shock. They lost a brother pretty much.”

The Coat of Arms Lounge has planned a celebration of life ceremony for Greenwood on April 2nd. All the money raised will go directly to the family.

If you would like to donate you can do so at The Coat of Arms or via GoFundMe.

Another man, Anthony Lanza, was also stabbed during the incident. The suspect, Aaron Stephens, has been charged with second degree murder among other charges. He is in jail under a $1 million bond.
