Friends of the Battleship host outreach event

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Friends of the Battleship organization held a meeting Saturday to spread the word about their group and the importance of maintaining the historic ship.

The highlight of the day was a special presentation by keynote speaker Joe Hoyt who spoke on “The Battle of the Atlantic Expedition”, where both sunken US vessels and German U-boats were rediscovered.

Organizers say this yearly meeting is important in getting the community involved in the upkeep of the Battleship N.C. The Friends of the Battleship are always looking for new members and volunteers.
