Front Street project reaches milestone

A Wilmington city spokesperson says the Front Street revitalization project has hit its half-way point for the first block.

Despite the challenge that it is to get around downtown with all the construction, some business owners say business has been steady. Some even say its increased.

“It’s not as huge of a hindrance as everyone’s trying to feel like it is,” said Charles Scott, general manager of Front Street Brewery. “So I want people to know it’s not so terrible downtown.”

Scott says the city has been very understanding of the needs of businesses. Crews even made a makeshift crosswalk to Front Street Brewery from the other side of the street.

The construction is expected to be finished in July.
