Front Street work frustrates drivers

Business owners are not the only ones frustrated by construction on Front Street in Downtown Wilmington. Add drivers to the list.

To help complete the Front Street improvements the City of Wilmington has closed off lanes on Front between 3rd and Red Cross causing confusion for some drivers. The city also closed off Front Street between Princess and Market to replace sewer pipes and spruce up the street forcing drivers to take a detour.

“It’s a real pain in the butt,” Joan Whitener said. “It really is. I was just coming down here to make a quick stop and it’s not going to be too quick with all this construction.”

The city expects work to be finished by July. Until then drivers will have to navigate through the maze of construction.
