Fugitive wanted in Delaware captured in N.C.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies in Jacksonville have captured a fugitive from Delaware who escaped from custody last month.

An Onslow County Sheriff’s spokesman tells The Daily News of Jacksonville that Calvin Harmon was taken into custody without incident Thursday evening on U.S. Highway 258 near N.C. 111, a few miles north of downtown.

Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Sutherland said Harmon is currently awaiting extradition to Delaware, where he was undergoing treatment at Beebe Hospital in Lewes.

The U.S. Marshals Service said Harmon faces charges in Delaware of burglary, criminal solicitation, theft, conspiracy and criminal mischief.
