Galleria shopping center in lawmakers’ hands

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The future of the old Galleria shopping center is now up to the General Assembly. Both the Wilmington City Council and Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen approved an inter-local agreement to annex the property Tuesday night.

It stipulates that Wilmington pay $7,200 a year in property taxes for four years and then $30,000 a year to Wrightsville Beach for 25 years.

A new developer to trying to fill the property with stores and apartments. Now, a lawmaker must submit a bill in the General Assembly to make it a done deal.
