Garden City Pier reopens six months after Hurricane Matthew

Saturday, April 8th, marks six months since Hurricane Matthew destroyed many areas across South Carolina.

Rebuilding continues for many, as people work their way back into their homes and businesses try to reopen as we approach the busy summer season.

Garden City was one of the areas along the coast hit the hardest. Streets were flooded, sand piled on the roads, power outages lasted for several days, and the Garden City Pier closed because of the storm.

But, signs of progress are seen throughout the area. On Friday, the Garden City Pier reopened.

Fishermen, locals and tourists swarmed the pier, taking in the view and enjoying a local staple to the area.
